Hello everyone,
So I wanted to take you all on a journey, the journey of my first wedding.
I assisted with a very lovely women who was so kind to let me, this completely new and inexperienced wedding photographer come along the ride and try to shoot with her.
The wedding was a small wedding 20 people MAX which was perfect for my first wedding since I wouldn't have to worry about messing up and all these people seeing me do so. (only 20 people would see me fail and that was a total life saving thought!) But I actually didn't
We shot at this country club right outside the restaurant, The Tonto Bar and Grill, which was weird at first but you got use to it because the tree we were shooting under was so pretty! ( also really painful to hit, my head was throbbing for a while) The actual wedding was beautiful I learned so much about how to shoot weddings.
The one thing I learned about weddings and how to shoot them is that EVERYTHING WILL ALWAYS BE BEHIND and that is okay!
Now of course on all of my shoots I always have to have something working against me, on this shoot it was the wind. We were shooting the group formals and they were so pretty especially with the nice gentle October breeze, we were using a flash on a light stand and shooting through a white umbrella. I was my job to make sure the flash was firing and was sturdy. The Photographer I was working under called me over to see how the photos were coming out and to teach me why she did that. As I was walking back I see the stand start to tip because of the wind, (I looked great because this wind was so gentle I was very etherial) I started to run to catch it because like hell was I going to let the one thing I was in charge of fall. I got there in time but I made a very stupid mistake. I grabbed the wrong part of the pole and next thing you know it just goes 'CRACK' I broke the pole and the flash was still falling. (well there goes my career forever) I finally get the flash and umbrella caught (moments from touching the wet grass we were shooting on), and even before the photographer can come over to see what happen I am already apologizing!! (Begging on my knees for mercy from the almighty Photo Gods) I told the photographer that I was already ordering one as a replacement (I was literally on Amazon Prime putting in my CC number)
All in all it was an amazing shoot. I learned so much, had so much fun and the pictures turned out amazing especially since it was my first shoot!
And I want to thank and congratulate the Bernacki/Brown family on letting me be apart of that special day.
